By using the Organization’s Site, you signify your consent to the collection of personal information as described in the Share the Magic Foundation Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the Privacy Policy, please do not use our Site. By using and accessing the Site, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this Policy and acknowledge and agree to the Terms of Use. We reserve the right to modify, alter, or otherwise update the Privacy Policy at any time, so visitors are encouraged to review the Privacy Policy from time to time. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of changes to these terms will mean you accept those changes.

When you use our Site, we may collect your personal information. “Personal Information” means information that is linked or could reasonably be linked to an identified or identifiable individual. Personal Information does not include information that is publicly available or information that is aggregated or anonymous.

We, or vendors acting on our behalf, may collect Personal Information such as name, address, email address, date of birth, phone number, and payment information when you:

  • Create an account on the Site;
  • Log into your account on the Site;
  • Sign up to receive email updates from the Organization or join its email list;
  • Register for a Virtual Reading Challenge;
  • Make a donation to the Organization;
  • Send the Organization a message through the Site;
  • Submit a testimonial;
  • Complete a Program Request Form;
  • Leave a comment on the Site; or
  • Make a purchase on the Read with Malcolm’s Magic Shop.

Information Collected Automatically

We, and our vendors, may use tracking technologies to collect Personal Information about your online activities through the use of cookies, clear GIFs or web beacons, local shared objects or tracking pixel technology. These tracking technologies may collect your IP address, device identifiers, user preferences, approximate geolocation, the pages you click on, and the website you visited immediately beforehand.

We may use these technologies for various purposes, including providing certain features and functionality on our Site, understand how our websites are performing, analyze how visitors use our Site, and for advertising purposes.   • Provide the products and services you have requested, including registering you or your students for a Virtual Reading Challenge;
  • Communicate with you, including sending you information on Virtual Reading Challenges, and information about the impact of your donation;
  • Provide specific relevant marketing, promotional, or other information to you;
  • Analyze trends and conduct research about our Site;
  • Improve the Site; or
  • Track traffic patterns and site usage.

We may disclose your Personal Information with affiliates, business partners, vendors (e.g., payment processors and website developers), and other parties.

In the event of a business transaction, such as if we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets (e.g., further to a merger, reorganization, liquidation, or any other business transaction, including negotiations of such transactions), we reserve the right to disclose any information we obtain through the Site.

Once we receive your transmission, we use commercially reasonable efforts to secure it on our systems.

The Site may contain links to, or features facilitated by, other websites or online services. The Organization is not  responsible for the privacy practices, advertising, products, or content of websites or online services that the Organization does not control. Please note that other online services have their own privacy policies and the Organization is not responsible or liable for these policies. Visitors to these websites should refer to each website’s respective privacy policies and practices.

The Site may also permit you to interact with certain social network websites, such as enabling you to “like” the Organization’s page or “share” content from the Site with other websites (a “Social Features”). If you choose to use a Social Feature, certain information may be accessible to us from that social network website, and the social network website may have access to certain information about you and your use of the Site. Please note that if you mention or comment about the Organization or our Site in your post to another social network website, that platform may allow us to publish your post on our Site.

CONTACT INFORMATION UPDATES

If you complete the newsletter signup, donation, event sponsorship, ticket or program forms and share your personal identifying information, such as name, mailing address, email address, and phone number, the information will be used only to provide you with more targeted content, send further information about our organization, or contact you when necessary. You may always opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the “Opt Out” section below.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely.  This is so we can recognize and approve any follow up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

To accept contributions via credit card, the Organization uses accredited online payment processing services that have their own data privacy policies. Unless requested by the donor for the purpose of processing recurring donations, we do not store, nor do we have access to, your credit card information, bank account numbers, or other account data sent to those processing services.

EMAIL DATA

The Organization is committed to keeping your e-mail address confidential. We do not share, sell, rent, or lease our subscription lists to third-party individuals, government agencies, or companies at any time unless compelled to do so by law. If you sign up for one of our email lists, we will only send you the kinds of information you have requested.

You also may decide to send us personally identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing a question or comment, or by filling out a web form. We use personally identifying information from email primarily to respond to your requests. We may forward your
email to other employees who are better able to answer your questions. We may also use your email to contact you in the future about our programs that may be of interest. We do not “sell,” “share,” or use your personal or personally identifying information for “targeted advertisement,”

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us by contacting adm@readwithmalcolm.com.   You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.  This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
