Share the Magic Foundation’s Shop the Magic initiative is an interactive bookstore shopping experience designed to promote the importance of book ownership in underserved areas. STM partners with corporations and a deserving school to award 20 – 25 “Rockstar Readers” with a visit to a local bookstore for an opportunity to select five brand new books. Used as a corporate engagement activity, employees of the partnering company volunteer as guides, helping the students select books according to their likes, ages and reading levels. As a bonus, the students also get a brief introduction to financial literacy as they take their books to the register to checkout. (All book costs and giveaways are covered by the partnership.)
